NOLA Cupcakes has a visual vibe of its own as a bakery brand, and its website had the potential to take a custom cake order instead of asking people to call, or even visit the branch.

The Brand

NOLA Cupcakes is a family-owned business and a pioneer of gourmet baking in Egypt, founded in 2010 with a specialization in cupcakes. This is a concept redesign of the homepage of their current website: the goal was to elevate the visual direction and make the experience feel warm and seamless.

Custom Cakes Without the Confusion

I noticed they make custom cakes for special occasions, so I thought: why not bring this feature to the website, instead of having to call them? On a call, people can get confused by how many things are customizable, so I designed a request for quotation for custom cakes.

The brief I set: a new, sleek website that carries the feeling of the brand and delivers a smooth experience, with calls to action front and center to either order a ready-made product or start the cake customization flow.

Minimal, Flat and Rounded

I made the concept minimal, flat and rounded to meet the brand identity, which reinforces the warm and cozy feeling. Their videos carry that same warmth, so the homepage needed a minimal yet warm redesign: a 30 px corner radius, in pearl aqua, deep crimson and white.

The main challenge was to unify the feel and the visual direction across the website while keeping trust through the storytelling. Once the homepage was designed, I animated it in Framer to show the concept in motion.
