Mindful is a mental health companion app focused on emotional safety, reflection and consistency. My mission was to design an experience that doesn’t overwhelm, but welcomes: one that helps users feel understood, not processed.
I designed Mindful to help users navigate anxiety, burnout and emotional overwhelm. The project challenged me to blend clean UX, soft visuals and motivating copy, all while prioritizing user comfort and accessibility. The key focus:
- Guided programs for self-awareness.
- Bite-sized relief through breathing and reflection.
- Emotional design that builds trust.

Onboarding That Feels Safe
Designing with empathy is no longer optional; it’s essential. The onboarding screens were crafted with one goal in mind: make users feel safe enough to show up for themselves. Soft imagery, a warm tone and minimal steps help users move past hesitation and begin their healing journey.
Animated emojis reflect the user’s goals in real time, whether it’s managing anxiety, improving sleep or building healthier habits. The goal:
- Build trust in three seconds.
- Make users feel seen.
- Create joy in micro-interactions.

Moods That Don’t Fit in a Box
Mindful is designed for emotional clarity, not just data. We added custom moods and tags to daily mood tracking, because no one’s emotions fit perfectly in a box. Whether it’s “in love” on a Monday or “just weird today”, users deserve to describe their experience their own way.
Empathy is good UX.

A Message to Your Future Self
Users can write or record a message to their future self, unlocked only after 30 days of consistency. It’s a small design choice with a big purpose: to celebrate growth, build resilience and make healing feel personal. UX isn’t just about usability; it’s about emotional memory.
